Each book in this series about a werewolf named Kitty is better than the one before! I have enjoyed each book enormously! In this latest one, Kitty agrees, against her better judgment, to participate in a reality show where all the participants are paranormals. So there are vampires, werewolves, psychics, magicians (remember Odysseus Grant? He’s back!). The setup is that there is one participant who is a cynic who does not believe in the paranormal, and they have two weeks to convince him without, hopefully, using the obvious methods (changing into a werewolf right in front of him).
This is a cute premise and Kitty is her usual charming self. There is a very small subplot about her friend Cormac having a parole hearing (fans will be happy to hear that!). This book doesn’t focus on her relationship with her husband Ben, or the pack, at all, but instead gives us a Kitty interacting with a variety of types of people.
I don’t want to tell you the plot twist. I will say that, although I loved this book, I knew it was coming before Kitty even agreed to be on the show. I mean, it really is plot number 3, it seems. So I saw it coming a mile away. Truly, however, this doesn’t detract from the fun of the book, or the cleverness with which it is written.
I can hardly wait for the next one!!
Kitty’s House of Horrors Feature
Kitty’s House of Horrors Overview
REALITY BITES Talk radio host and werewolf Kitty Norville has agreed to appear on TV’s first all-supernatural reality show. She’s expecting cheesy competitions and manufactured drama starring shapeshifters, vampires, and psychics. But what begins as a publicity stunt will turn into a fight for her life. The cast members, including Kitty, arrive at the remote mountain lodge where the show is set. As soon as filming starts, violence erupts and Kitty suspects that the show is a cover for a nefarious plot. Then the cameras stop rolling, cast members start dying, and Kitty realizes she and her monster housemates are ironically the ultimate prize in a very different game. Stranded with no power, no phones, and no way to know who can be trusted, she must find a way to defeat the evil closing in . . . before it kills them all.
